Staff at Strawberry Gardens, a new Housing 21 Extra Care development on Moorhen Road, off Arnold’s Way, has celebrated the official opening of its show home.

Progress has now been made on the name of the extra care scheme in Lyde Green, which is set to be called ‘Edward Jenner Court’ after developers took inspiration from Edward Jenner who invented the small pox vaccine in the 1700s.

Jane Edwards, Housing and Care Manager, has been supporting those awaiting their move to Extra Care development Box Tree Court, by circulating quizzes and competitions and ensuring social care assessments are done safely using video technology.

Birmingham City Council, in partnership with Housing 21, a leading not-for-profit provider of housing and care for older people of modest means, has identified land in Lozells and Saltley to provide the city’s first co-housing projects for older people.

Housing 21, a leading housing association for older people of modest means, has been downgraded from a G1 to a G2 rating by the Regulator of Social Housing. The Governance downgrade is due to issues involving rent setting processes and controls.

The new Housing 21 development for people over the age of 55 is under construction on Whittington Road and has now been named as ‘Crookbarrow View’, which was chosen to celebrate a local mound with prehistoric activity.
