    A note from Caroline Kaiser

As we enter the month of July, it is exciting to see the 60th anniversary celebrations take up momentum. I have had the privilege of attending some events and look forward to attending more in the coming summer months. It was heartwarming to see our residents and employees having a great time especially with the different themed celebrations.

As we embark on the next 60-year journey (😊), which begins with one year, the Extra Care leadership team, in consultation with residents and employees, has identified three key priorities for 2024/25. These are Resident Satisfaction, Compliance and Performance. Our purpose remains “To provide high-quality housing with care or support for older people of modest means enabling them to live well with dignity and autonomy.”

Through our three key priorities this year, each of our services is dedicated to achieving and pursuing:

    • 95% Resident Satisfaction through improved communication and effective engagement
    • 100% compliance within our housing and care services to meet both the changing needs of our residents and the requirements within the regulators’ standards.
    • Continuous improvement and high performance at every level to see that we meet the targets we have set for ourselves.

Our teams will be equipped with the skills and tools enabling them to deliver the best service and outcomes for all, including improved systems and investment in people and leadership.

We recently rolled out a new way of working so that that all employees can now access our digital systems and resources via digital accounts for colleagues including Care Workers and Domestic/Ancillary Workers/employees.

For those that are yet to activate and access their digital accounts, I can only say ‘speak to your colleagues who have or your Manager and hear all about it!’

Let’s get busy while we enjoy a summer of sports – Wimbledon, Euros and Olympics!

  • South regional news section

The south region has been enjoying some beautiful sunshine along with their 60th anniversary events!

There are more booked in for July! Ashleigh and I hope to attend as many as we can.

We had D-day celebrations with people getting involved to celebrate and remember such an important day in our history.

Birdie is coming to Oak House and Hillside Court! The teams are busy preparing for this exciting transition to digital care planning. The teams on site will let you all know how this will affect you going forward, but the feedback so far is it's been a positive move, with residents having reaped the benefits of more time with you and less time writing long notes!

I hope you are enjoying the sun and hope to see you soon.

Michelle Byrd, Deputy Head of Extra Care South
