Siblings Eric and Jim live at Housing 21’s Extra Care scheme in Bradford. Jim, 92, was one of the first residents to move into the scheme, having lived in Bradford for over 60 years.

Although not an Extra Care resident, Dee has become a key member of the scheme’s local community and has formed a strong friendship with Angie, who lives with Housing 21.

Obtaining a blackbelt in karate is an achievement at any age – but for Phyllis, passing her 1st Dan at the age of 78 brought about some national TV interest.

Jackie and her partner Steve live together at their home in North Yorkshire, but occasionally, Jackie will move into the respite apartment at a nearby Extra Care scheme.

After surgery for a hysterectomy in 2022 Julia was unable to return home as she had nobody to help care for her during her recovery.

Neil was first introduced to Extra Care through the NHS’s Step Down initiative, which enables people to be discharged from hospital into short term, community-based accommodation.

Sarah moved to one of our Extra Care schemes in 2023 following a stroke.

Edna and Rashford decided to move into Extra with Housing 21 in 2020 after Edna had an unexpected fall.
