There are many independent shops, high street stores and banks in the city centre, as well as cafés, bars and restaurants. There is a range of larger supermarkets on the outskirts. There are also doctors surgeries, dentists, places of worship and a Post Office within easy reach of the court.
Addison Park sits just behind the court and the recently renovated Drakes Place Gardens and Reservoir are less than five minutes away. There is a cinema in the city as well as the Plymouth Arts Centre which shows less mainstream films. Plymouth Argyle Football Club is easily accessible by bus as is Plymouth Albion RFC.

The attractive gardens offer plenty of places for residents to sit and relax or enjoy one of the court’s barbeques and there are many well-stocked flowerbeds, bird tables and a water feature. The resident run social club at Winifred Baker Court gets involved with activity planning and ensures there are plenty of events to choose from. Regular activities on offer in the spacious communal areas include coffee mornings, fish & chip suppers, bingo sessions and Tai Chi classes. The Court has attractive landscaped gardens where relaxation and social activities, such as barbeques, can take place in fine weather. Those with green fingers are welcome to get involved with a spot of gardening if they choose.
The city centre is just five minutes’ walk away and has a wealth of famous places to visit including Plymouth Hoe, the Barbican, the Theatre Royal, Plymouth Pavilions and the historic Royal William Yard. The Dartmoor National Park is half an hour away by car.
