Housing 26 apartments; 12 studio apartments, 13 one-bedroomed apartments, and a single three-bedroomed apartment. The court is pet-friendly, but we ask that dogs be kept on a lead whilst walking through the communal parts of the building. In the garden, there is a dedicated pet patio where dogs can explore off lead, with the understanding owners are responsible for any clean ups.
The village is served by a local Co-Op, there is a weekly farmers market that offers a range of speciality produce such as artisan breads, cheeses, fresh fish, fruit and vegetables, homemade jams and pickles.
There are a variety of clubs in the village including the Monday Lunch Club at the church, attended by Hearing Essex volunteers who, among other things, will service hearing aids. The local library has a number of regular events that include a knit and natter group, book club and have a regular tech support person on site to help with technical issues and provide lessons on navigating the web.
Colchester, nine miles away, has a larger range of shops and facilities including supermarkets, pubs, cafés, restaurants, a theatre, and a weekly market.
The nearest train station is Kelvedon, on the Colchester to Liverpool Street line, which provides easy access to London’s wealth of retail and leisure facilities. The court is located a short walk from the local doctor's surgery, which is very highly regarded by residents and their families.
Prail Court has a range of on-site facilities including a residents’ lounge, communal laundry, guest room, lift and
parking for 12 vehicles, this is on a first come first served basis, with 2 of these reserved as disabled parking spots.
The residents are proud of the court’s well-kept gardens and there are opportunities for residents to adopt a border to make their mark in the garden if they choose to. There are a number of bird boxes and feeders, and a family of hedgehogs are regular visitors to the court.

This friendly and welcoming Court has a social club and a residents' association, so there are many activities and events available to choose from. These include coffee mornings, fish & chip lunches, Chinese supper nights, games nights, bingo sessions and quiz afternoons. Residents have close links with the local community and get involved in local events and charities. The well-maintained gardens are a source of pride to the court and provide an ideal place for a spot of outdoor relaxation in fine weather.
Pubs, churches, a Post Office, doctors surgery and dentist are a short walk away. There are several larger supermarkets, restaurants and a leisure centre in Braintree.
