The town also has a harbour on the River Severn, a beautiful public park and boating lake.
The area has good transport links to other areas in the Forest Of Dean and the nearby city of Gloucester. Local bus services run to Chepstow or Coleford from a bus stop directly opposite the court and there is a train station just over a mile away. A reliable dial-a-ride service operates in the town and there are volunteer car services, local minibuses and taxi firms to help residents get around.
Goode Court has a modern and welcoming residents’ lounge, en-suite guest room, communal laundry, lift and Car park.
The attractive landscaped grounds are well-maintained and feature a rose garden, sloping lawns and flowerbeds. Residents are welcome to get involved with gardening if they wish and several enjoy feeding the birds and other local wildlife.

The social committee at this friendly and supportive court takes an active role in planning events to engage residents in the community. Activities include coffee mornings, bingo sessions, whist, music events, exercise classes, breakfast clubs and guest speakers. The court enjoys close links with the local primary school and residents are invited to attend their seasonal entertainments. Off-site trips to the coast, the theatre and local pubs and restaurants are also on the agenda. The court is surrounded by mature landscaped gardens which provide a peaceful place to relax, socialise and enjoy the local wildlife in fine weather and those with green fingers are welcome to get involved with a spot of gardening if they wish.
Lydney offers a good range of supermarkets, local shops, restaurants, banks, and a doctor's surgery. It also has the Victoria Centre luncheon club, a post office, library and community hospital.
