Lavender Meadows: addressing the need for specialist housing
Lavender Meadows was developed to address the need for specialist housing for older people in Stratford-upon-Avon, with an estimated growth in the market of 65 percent by 2035.
- Development Type: Extra Care
- Developer/Contractor: Vistry Partnerships West Midlands
- Architect: Glancy Nicholls Architects
- Start on Site: April 2019
- Practical Completion: July 2021
- Property type: 75 one- and two-bedroom apartments
The Extra Care Living scheme includes both shared ownership and social rent apartments, as well as a range of stunning communal facilities including a communal lounge, activity room and guest suite, plus a café/ bistro and hair salon open to the wider community.
In what was a fairly confined site, we worked closely with the developing partners to ensure that space was maximised. By using a mixture of two and three storey blocks, building some sections effectively into the ground and including additional banking on the landscaped areas, we were able to ensure the scheme was successfully adapted to the available space.
“Lavender Meadows is a fantastic scheme which brings dozens of much-needed specialist apartments to Stratford-upon-Avon”
