Excitement is spreading across Housing 21 following the announcement that we have been shortlisted in this year’s Investors in People Platinum Awards for UK Employer of the Year.

The Investors in People Awards celebrate the very best organisations and individuals from around the world across various organisational, people, wellbeing and leadership categories.

The shortlisting coincides with the announcement that employees will start their new working pattern from Monday 26 September, where they will have a non-working day each fortnight.

The Investors in People Awards celebrate the very best organisations and individuals from around the world across various organisational, people, wellbeing and leadership categories.

The new way of working is just one of the many perks offered to salaried full-time employees, who will now look forward to an extra day off every other week.

A longer weekend will give people the time to enjoy the things they love to do outside of their day-to-day roles working at Housing 21.

This is a great opportunity to show people that they are valued and offering employees the chance to have a day where they can catch up with friends - or Netflix if they prefer.

The shortlisting for UK Employer of the Year is a momentous one for the not-for-profit provider that achieved the Investors in People Platinum in 2021 - the highest award which recognises organisations that contribute a direct and positive impact on people’s lives daily.

Sophia Nakhooda, Head of People and Culture at Housing 21, said: “The nine-day fortnight working pattern is a positive move for Housing 21. We value our employees and want to embrace flexible working as it can help achieve a better work-life balance, can support wellbeing by reducing stress and contribute to increased job satisfaction. We hope that this will enhance our employer offer and help us to continue to build our appeal as a great place to work, for all.

"We are a service-led organisation and maintaining our customer responsiveness is important to us. Over the past few months, line managers have been meeting with their teams to discuss the working arrangements that will work best for each team, and individual employees.”

Other benefits currently offered include the Blue Light Discount, which provides access to over 15,000 discounts across retailers, saving money on holidays, cars, days out and many more.

In June this year, Housing 21 announced a four percent pay rise which will to help with the increased cost of living. Care Workers employed by Housing 21 receive benefits in line with corporate employees, including occupational sick pay, holiday pay and maternity pay.
