The community spirit at Housing 21’s Priory Court in Gateshead has received an award in Koast Radio’s Community Awards.
Koast FM’s drivetime show with Richy and Clairey follow the Extra Care scheme’s Facebook page, and the producers have enjoyed the content and the community spirit that shines through from the activities that take place.
The drivetime show is a prominent voice in the community; each month they spotlight groups that bring people together and local organisations are nominated for their work within their local communities.
The nomination praised the activities that take place at the scheme, stating: “Priory Court are absolutely amazing with the work they do for all residents.
“Each day is a fun day with all different activities.”
Residents at the Extra Care scheme enjoy a range of activities designed to promote wellbeing and social interaction, which the team regularly upload to their Facebook feed with pictures and videos of all the fun and games that take place behind the scenes.
This includes parties for residents, bingo, coffee mornings and hosting dinners for everyone to enjoy together.
Alana Griffin, Assistant Housing Manager at Priory Court said: “We are delighted here at Priory Court to be recognised for the work that we do, it means a lot that we make a difference.
“We listen to Koast radio in the scheme and the residents are thrilled to be acknowledged by the local station.”
Residents at Priory Court enjoy the garden area which features a large lawn with seating areas as well as a communal lounge and kitchen.
