Love knows no boundaries, as proven by Sandy and Don, who found each other at Housing 21’s Extra Care scheme, Winehala Court.
The couple’s journey to happiness began three years ago and has blossomed into a beautiful love story that has captured the hearts of everyone at the scheme.
Sandy moved into the Extra Care scheme in March 2021, and Don joined the community in February 2022.
After months of friendship, they took their relationship to the next level in early 2024. Sandy said: “I was so happy to find love again.”
The highlight of their romance came during one of the community’s much-loved weekly bingo sessions when Don surprised everyone by proposing to Sandy. The heart-warming moment was met with cheers and applause.
While the wedding date is yet to be confirmed, the couple is excited to embark on this new chapter together, with the love and support of their friends, family, and fellow residents at Extra Care.
The couple celebrated their engagement with a mini break to York.
Speaking about finding love with Sandy, Don said: “I never thought I would have another chance of finding love.”
Their story is a reminder that love can be found at any stage of life and in the most unexpected places.
