Robert Allan Court in Newcastle-upon-Tyne hosted a celebration in honour of one of its longest-reigning residents, Averil, as she marked her 100th birthday in style.
To celebrate the milestone, the Local Housing Manager at the Retirement Living scheme organised a party, inviting Averil’s family, friends, residents and employees from Housing 21, who manage the scheme.
Averil was also surprised with a VIP guest, the Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Veronica Dunn, who joined the festivities and presented Averil with a 100th birthday card from the City of Newcastle.
The scheme was decorated with balloons and “100” themed decorations while Averil dressed up with a special birthday sash and crown. Averil has lived at Housing 21’s scheme for 22 years, during this time she has made an impact on the community around her, being instrumental in arranging events, charity fundraisers and day trips.
To celebrate her impact and her legacy at the scheme, the residents and the Local Housing Manager created a slideshow of Averil’s treasured memories over the years which included photos from over 60 years ago.
