Housing 21 has won the Best older people's landlord category at the UK Housing Awards – described as 'the biggest and best awards' in the housing sector!
We were also shortlisted in the Digital provider of the year and Innovation: Technology categories for our work installing digital call systems and PEBBLEs - a new Court Manager system which helps staff easily manage waiting lists, tenancy sign ups, order repairs and much more, quickly and conveniently on a tablet device.
The UK Housing Awards were looking for a landlord who has played a vital part in providing housing and support to older people. They wanted to celebrate a provider that has developed and delivered a housing offer which meets the changing needs of the older population.
This win shows how Housing 21 does so much more than just put a roof over peoples' heads and how fantastic our people are in helping residents to maintain their independence and live healthy, happy lives. On the night the judges commented on our achievements in helping people living with dementia and the amount of work we have undertaken in the last year.
Every staff member at Housing 21 believes in 'doing the right thing' and this is evidenced by a high resident satisfaction score, which improves year on year.
We listen to our residents - whether it is on the matter of keeping the Court Manager in our Retirement Living schemes when other providers are removing theirs – or taking steps to retain care staff to ensure a consistent person-centred approach is maintained.
We are passionate, not just about ensuring residents' voices are heard, but also acting upon it. An approach which saw our name change from 'Housing & Care 21' back to 'Housing 21' last year, following feedback from our residents who said this would give them greater pride in their homes.
Every ounce of our existence as an organisation is about improving the lives of older people in England. For us, this goes beyond the work we are doing for our own residents, it also means using our innovation and influence to improve the work of others too.
