Residents came together at Housing 21’s Extra Care scheme, Elm Tree Court in Bradford, for an exciting opportunity to see the modular kitchen and bathroom designs that support accessibility.

The event included interactive demonstrations, a question-and-answer session and presentations of the latest products and innovations.

Around 40 residents attended and provided their feedback on the products and designs for the demonstration pods and showers, including grab rails and shower seats, colour schemes, fixtures, and fittings.

One of the residents, Eddie, said: “It is really interesting to see the exhibition of the kitchens and bathrooms.

“As a former plumber I was very interested in seeing the designs and how technology has moved on so much.”

This collaborative event aims to ensure that Housing 21 continues to invest in the most suitable, resident-approved options, keeping the residents fully engaged throughout the process.

Tony Tench, Deputy Chief Executive at Housing 21, said: “It has been a fantastic event, and we’re delighted so many residents were able to attend.

“We are looking forward to hosting more events across the country so we can continue to ensure our residents are driving the decisions we make.”

The initiative is part of Housing 21’s commitment to providing safe, high-quality homes for older people, maintaining its reputation as a landlord of choice within the sector.

The housing provider continues to invest in its properties, maintaining high property standards and responding to changing regulations and resident expectations.

Heidi Fisher, National Property Development Manager, emphasised the importance of the resident engagement events, adding: “The events are important as they allow the residents to touch, feel, and look at physical examples of what we plan to install.

“The feedback we get from these events is incredibly useful for us.”
