Housing 21 is thrilled to announce it has been shortlisted for Care Employer of the Year at the Caring UK awards 2022.

The awards showcase the best of the care industry and celebrate the achievements of care teams across the UK. To be shortlisted for the Care Employer of the Year category, Housing 21 had to demonstrate it inspires employees to come to work and rewards them accordingly.

Jamie Lindon-Lewis, Head of Extra Care Central at Housing 21, said:  "We’re delighted to have been shortlisted for the Care Employer of the Year award, highlighting our team’s dedication to helping give Care Workers the confidence and skills to progress within their careers, which is something we are extremely passionate about. To be recognised in the care sector for this award is remarkable."

Housing 21, a leading national provider of Extra Care and Retirement Living for older people of modest means, announced from October this year an additional four percent pay rise for employees to help with the increased cost of living. Care Workers with enhanced qualifications were also awarded an additional 50p per hour and will continue to receive benefits in line with corporate employees, including occupational sick pay, holiday pay and maternity pay.

Other benefits currently offered include the Blue Light Discount Card, which provides access to over 15,000 discounts across retailers, saving money on holidays, cars, days out and many more.

Housing 21 has also launched the Extra Care Academy, an industry-first training academy which enables Care Workers to progress into management level roles. The Extra Care Academy is a two-year training programme which aims to tackle misconceptions around careers in care, with candidates finishing the course with the training and qualifications to pursue a job in management in the care sector.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Leicester on the 1 December; view the full shortlist here.
