Housing 21's Chief Financial Officer, Andy Shaw has earned a spot on Inside Housing’s 40 under 40 list.
Inside Housing announced the list in Manchester at Housing 2024, spotlighting the outstanding individuals under 40 who are positively shaping the future of housing.
Having received more than 300 nominations, judges narrowed down the final 40 by selecting those whose vision, passion and dedication are setting the standard for the wider sector.
Andy started his career with Housing 21 as Group Financial Accountant in 2014 and worked in various finance roles across the organisation before being appointed as Chief Financial Officer at the end of 2023. His financial acumen, combined with his dedication to delivering against Housing 21’s values and social purpose, makes him an incredibly valued member of the leadership team and he has been instrumental in Housing 21 retaining its V1 regulatory rating.
In addition to providing strong and stable leadership, Andy is also admired by his peers for his parenting and ability to achieve a work-life balance that has typically eluded many career-driven senior figures.
Andy is known across the organisation not just for his financial leadership but for his personable and approachable nature. In addition to being voted Mentor of the Year by his colleagues, he was also recognised externally by the West Midlands Finance Awards, where he was highly commended in the Rising Star category.

Sarah Smith, Head of Group Property Compliance at Housing 21 was also shortlisted. Sarah joined Housing 21 in 2020, her experience has been invaluable in bringing a fresh approach to Housing 21.
The 40 under 40 success for Andy coincides with Housing 21 celebrating its 60th anniversary as a housing association.
