Brand new scheme located off Rudham Stile Lane is set to welcome its first residents in spring 2021.
Meadow Walk is being developed by Housing 21, in partnership with Norfolk County Council and North Norfolk District Council. The new apartments will be available for people over the age of 55, who are looking to rent or purchase a shared ownership one or two bedroom apartment.
The Extra Care scheme has been designed for those looking to maintain their independence with the assurance of quality on-site care and support if needed, making it a real alternative to residential care, particularly for couples whose care needs vary but are keen to stay living together. The scheme will welcome pets too.
The new Extra Care development, comprising 66 apartments, was designed to provide much needed, fully accessible accommodation for older people in the area.
Meadow Walk will also offer a 24-hour on-site care team for emergency response and those who need more planned care, a communal lounge and landscaped gardens. An on-site café/bistro and hair salon can also be enjoyed by residents and the local community.
Tracy Jones, Head of Extra Care at Housing 21 said: “When we started construction we never could have predicted what was ahead of us!
“Throughout the pandemic, our Extra Care schemes have proven to be a safe haven compared to other forms of housing and care for older people. For the past few months, our staff really did rise to the challenge by ensuring residents were safe and well at all times. They were also amazing at lifting spirits for those who were unable to see their loved ones during lockdown.
“We noticed that residents at other Housing 21 schemes really valued the outside space and many were able to maintain their social lives by having socially distanced chats with neighbours. In our new schemes, we are providing tablets in each apartment which allow residents to video call each other, which is great for wellbeing in these very unusual times!
“We’re looking forward to meeting some of our future residents when we officially open the show home later this year.”
