Following the success of the Extra Care Academy, Housing 21 has launched the Housing Academy- a new 18-month programme aimed at operational employees looking to progress their careers as Operations Managers or Regional Extra Care Managers.

The Housing Academy is an exciting opportunity which will provide students with specific housing knowledge, leadership skills, and training and expertise from a range of mentors from across Housing 21.

This new programme is open to Retirement Living and Extra Care employees in roles which include Local Housing Managers, Assistant Housing Managers, Regional Administrators and Business Improvement Officers.

Jen Davis-Dean, Head of Retirement Living South at Housing 21, said: “We are pleased to announce that our Housing Academy is open for applications. The Housing Academy will help to create opportunities for individuals to develop the skills and experience they need to apply for regional management positions.

“At Housing 21, we are committed to helping our employees to develop their skills and progress within their career, with a tailored induction and development pathway designed to maximise skills, knowledge, and development opportunities, and the academy reflects this.”

The Housing Academy will run for 18 months; up to 10 students are expected to join the cohort who will work towards a Level 4 Senior Housing and Property Management Apprenticeship with the Chartered Institute of Housing.

Each student will be allocated a mentor who is an Operational Managers or Regional Extra Care Manager with Housing 21. Mentors will support students through their learning journey.

The housing provider has a commitment to the ongoing development of all employees and is among the top two percent of employers assessed by Investors in People, achieving Platinum status.

Learning and development opportunities for existing employees include the Extra Care Academy, which is for Care Workers working with the organisation. The industry-first programme provides them with the skills and qualifications needed to develop and pursue a successful career in management.

In addition to this, the Care Certificate is provided to every Care Worker once they receive full Skills for Care accredited in-house training in all aspects of care delivery and current legislation.

Housing 21 also has an apprenticeship scheme with 304 people currently working towards an apprenticeship for a nationally recognised qualification and creating a portfolio of work with on-the-job training.

Applications for the Housing Academy close on Friday 28 April. To find out more about learning and development opportunities at Housing 21, visit the website: Housing 21 - Learning and development
