Dedicated Extra Care resident, Valerie has raised £700 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Known for her relentless work organising initiatives to benefit those in need, Valerie consistently leads a variety of fundraising projects throughout the year.
Among her many endeavours, Valerie creates gift baskets that she raffles off to raise funds for the North Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Her efforts are met with enthusiasm from fellow residents, who eagerly purchase tickets in support of this vital cause.
Valerie said: “Thank you to all at Greyfriars, to all their families and friends for donating to my raffles and helping me make it such a great success, I hope it continues.”
In addition to the raffles, Valerie also knits woolly hats, which are sold to residents, employees, and the local community.
Valerie’s charitable spirit extends to seasonal donations as well. At Christmas, Valerie takes charge of collecting gifts for young children and teenagers, which are then donated to a charity in Richmond for distribution.
Every year, she encourages residents to contribute Easter eggs for underprivileged children, with the donation box frequently being filled and emptied numerous times.
Housing Manager Kellie Boden said: “Val truly is an amazing individual! I am incredibly proud to be the Housing Manager of such an outstanding community like Greyfriars.”
