An Extra Care Living scheme in Aldridge received a visit from Amir Khan after Thursday 14 May’s clap for our carers.
Housing 21’s Alrewych Court on Northgate contains 53 apartments for people over the age of 55 and a team of 31 work around the clock providing care to people in their own homes.
Amir Khan, personally delivered boxes of essential supplies from his charity, the Amir Khan Foundation, to be shared with all residents at the court. He was also on hand for a quick autograph for a resident who has been shielding for eight weeks.
Alison Norris, Housing and Care Manager at Alrewych Court said: “We couldn’t believe it when we received the call to say Amir Khan was coming to see us! When he and his team arrived with his boxes of supplies for our residents we were so overwhelmed by what was such a random act of kindness!
“Before the pandemic hit, Alrewych Court was all about community, we have an on-site restaurant which is normally open to the public and our residents choose to live here to maintain their independence. It was great to restore that feeling of community once again and feel a little bit of normality.
“One of our residents asked for an autograph, which he obliged with no problem at all. He said thank you to all the staff team for supporting residents to stay safe and well, it was a real, good ‘we are all in this together’ feeling.
“We would love to welcome him and his team back any time!”
