The new 20-apartment-extension at Diamond Court means the scheme now comprises 73 one- and two-bedroom homes. The new one-bedroom apartments are all available for social rent and will be prioritised for people over the age of 55 with a care or support need.
The extension has been delivered by Housing 21, a national leading provider of Retirement Living and Extra Care, in partnership with North Somerset Council, Kitto Construction Ltd, O’Leary Goss and Gardiner & Theobald.
Deborah Hope, Head of Development at Housing 21, said: "We are delighted to see that the Diamond Court extension has successfully completed in Worle. We're looking forward to welcoming residents to their new homes who will be supported to live independently with access to the impressive on-site communal facilities."
Jamie Lindon-Lewis, Head of Extra Care – Central at Housing 21, said: “Our Extra Care properties strike a unique balance as they allow residents the freedom to live independently with the peace of mind that an on-site Care Team brings, if support is required. We can’t wait to start getting everybody settled into their new homes at the already-vibrant Diamond Court.”
The completion of the extension at Diamond Court means residents will be able to live independently in their own spacious apartment with the assurance of an on-site Care Team providing tailored support, if needed.
Residents will also be able to enjoy a range of facilities including an on-site café/bistro, communal lounge and landscaped gardens.
The new residents are expected to move into Diamond Court from March 2023.
Cllr Mike Bell, Deputy Leader of North Somerset Council and Executive Member for Adult Services, said: “North Somerset Council welcomes this opportunity to expand the capacity of Extra Care housing in North Somerset.
“Extra Care housing is an excellent alternative to home care provision that maximises the independence of individuals with care and support needs and is a key priority to our plans for older person’s housing solutions in North Somerset.”
All applications must go through North Somerset Council who will assess eligibility through a care assessment. Potential residents can apply by emailing care.connect@n-somerset.gov.uk or calling 01275 888 801.
