Dementia and Housing Working Group

We are a proud supporter of the Dementia and Housing Working Group (DHWG), the only national group focused on housing and dementia.

The DHWG brings together a wide range of volunteer stakeholders with an action-oriented ethos and a track record of producing tangible outcomes. Its aim is to promote and influence the contribution of the housing sector in improving the health, wellbeing and quality of life for people living with dementia.

The Dementia and Housing Working Group (DHWG) is excited to launch the second in our quarterly webinar series focused on housing and dementia.

This webinar addresses the challenges surrounding diversity. We know there is a lack of understanding of the genetic basis of disease in different ethnicities. According to research, Black people are approximately twice as likely than white people in the same community to develop Alzheimer’s disease. Older LGBT people are more likely to be single and more likely to live on their own than heterosexual people. Innovating in the name of inclusivity means creating solutions, products, and environments that consider and address the diverse needs of all people, regardless of their background, gender, beliefs, abilities, or circumstances.

This webinar is aimed at anyone involved in housing and dementia, particularly housing providers, designers, architects, local authorities, people living with dementia and their families.
